Welcome to Choose My Date ("the App", "we", "us", "our"). We take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.

By creating an account or using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

Account Information

• Email address
• Password (stored encrypted, never in plain text)
• Display name

Profile Information (Dates only)

• Photos (up to 3)
• Age
• Gender
• City, country, and nationality
• Hobbies
• "Why Me" text (your pitch to the Main Character)

Activity Data

• Votes you cast (upvotes and downvotes)
• Love Rushes you participate in
• Account creation date and timestamps of actions

Technical Data

• Browser type and version
• Device type (mobile/desktop)
• IP address (for security purposes only)
• Cookies for session management

We use your data exclusively to operate the App and provide its features:

• Display your profile to other users within Love Rushes
• Calculate your SparkRank score based on your profile and community votes
• Manage your account (login, session, password reset)
• Improve the App (aggregated analytics, bug fixing)
• Ensure security (prevent fraud, abuse, and unauthorized access)

We do NOT:

• Sell your personal data to third parties
• Share your data with advertisers
• Use your data for purposes unrelated to the App
• Send marketing emails without your consent

Photos you upload are stored securely on Cloudinary, a third-party cloud storage service. Your photos are:

• Visible to other users of the App within Love Rushes
• Visible to the Main Character of any Love Rush you participate in
• Never shared outside the App
• Deleted from our servers when you delete them from your profile or delete your account

By uploading photos, you confirm that you have the right to use these images and consent to them being displayed within the App.

When you participate in a Love Rush as a Date, the following information is publicly visible to all App users:

• Your display name, age, gender
• Your city, country, nationality
• Your photos
• Your hobbies
• Your "Why Me" text
• Your SparkRank score and vote count

Your email address is never publicly visible.

When you vote on a Date's profile, your vote is recorded anonymously — the Date cannot see who voted for or against them. Your voting activity contributes to your own SparkRank score if you are also a Date.

• Your data is stored on secure servers (Turso database, Cloudinary for media)
• Passwords are encrypted using industry-standard hashing (bcrypt)
• Sessions are managed via secure, HTTP-only cookies
• We implement reasonable technical measures to protect your data from unauthorized access

However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

• Your data is retained for as long as your account is active
• If you delete your account, your personal data and photos will be permanently removed within 30 days
• Aggregated, anonymized data (e.g., total vote counts) may be retained for analytics purposes

As we are operated from Estonia (EU), you have the following rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):

• Access: Request a copy of all personal data we hold about you
• Rectification: Correct any inaccurate personal data
• Erasure: Request deletion of your account and all associated data ("right to be forgotten")
• Portability: Request your data in a machine-readable format
• Objection: Object to specific processing of your data
• Withdraw consent: Withdraw your consent at any time by deleting your account

Choose My Date is intended for users aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under the age of 18. If we discover that a minor has created an account, we will promptly delete the account and all associated data.

We use strictly necessary cookies to manage your login session. We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or analytics cookies from third parties.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify users via the App. Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
